The Prose Poem and How to Blur Genre Lines

Prose poetry can be hard to write, because the line between a prose poem and a short story or personal essay is very thin. In this workshop, we’ll examine what the parameters of a prose poem are and how to write prose poems that leave no question in the reader’s mind that it is a poem.

Be prepared to read multiple prose poems as a class, discuss what makes them poems to you, and write your own prose poems.
