Weep, Wail, Write (session 1)

all times in Pacific
all labs on Zoom

Instructor Claudine Cheatem has suffered through the death of multiple loved ones, and these experiences have afforded her the ability to understand the silencing effect of grief and yet have the agonizing desire to put her feelings into words.

This 6-week creative writing course examines how we can deal with grief through our writing. By creating an open space for you to share, this class aims to help you cope with the devastating residual of loss. Through writing prompts and an introduction to poetry, we’ll together find the words to describe our grief.

Upon completion of this class, you’ll have the beginning of a journal that you’ll be able to add to as you reflect on the memories of your loved one. The writing prompts can be revisited long after the class has ended as you continue to go through the healing process.

Excerpts from the book I Wasn’t Ready to Say Goodbye by Brooke Noel and Pamela D. Blair will be used. Please bring a notebook to write with and a box of tissues.

6 sessions, all Thursdays from 4:30 - 7:00 pm PST: 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4
You must be enrolled for the first session to attend the full class.
