This somatic writing workshop explores the connection between the emotions and experiences we hold in certain areas of our bodies and our creative writing. We’ll examine the work of writers like Monica Ong, Ursula LeGuin, Kate Zambreno, and Alexis Pauline Gumbs in excerpts that demonstrate somatic-focused work. Following readings and a class discussion, we’ll use prompts to explore somatic writing. There will be time for sharing and feedback.
Students who are interested should have a willingness to join in discussion and share writing in the classroom space.
Note: Sometimes when working with the body, emotions and experiences can surface in a painful way. This is a trauma-informed classroom space.
